A strict commitment to accuracy in our work means we will always work to do the job correctly. We refuse to cut corners. We refuse to do the job just to “make it work.” Accuracy for Jinji Cycles means we will do the job correctly, use the right parts and tools, and follow manufacturers’ directions. We strive to stop nothing short of perfection so that your bike not only works, but works flawlessly for as long a time as possible.
The way Jinji Cycles approaches communication is one thing that we believe objectively separates us from the rest of the field. Our ideals of communication span everything we do, from dropping off your bike to picking it up. We believe that the technician servicing the bike should be in constant communication with the bicycle’s owner. This is why, when a client drops off their bike, they do not talk to a service writer at a desk. The client sits down with their technician and discusses their bike. Here the client is able to communicate all issues and concerns they may have and the technician is able to comment and advise in person and not after the fact. Since these meetings are all appointment based there is no time restraint on the technician; he is therefore, able to commit the necessary time to fully hearing out the client.
While a bicycle is in service we believe the technician has a particular responsibility to maintain communication with the client. Any issue not discussed at drop off is addressed immediately through phone and email if possible. Nothing should show up on the bill or at pick up that has not been discussed during service. At no time should the client be unsure about the status of their service. Additionally, since the client is given the email and phone of their technician, they are always able to contact them with any additions or comments.
While working on the bike, the technician will make notes on the service performed. These notes will then be transferred into a detailed, easy to read service report which will enable the client to know exactly what work was performed and what the technician had to say about that.
Another meeting is scheduled for pickup. At this meeting, the client is given their service report and the technician will discuss in person the service performed. The technician is able to explain why and how certain services were done as well as make other advisement’s. The client is able to ask questions and gain a full understanding of their bicycle’s service and condition.
Open and comprehensive communication between technicians and clients places Jinji Cycles in stark contrast to the traditional bicycle service. Our commitment to communication not only improves the bicycle service but enhances the service experience, offering an experience not available anywhere else.
At Jinji Cycles we confidently claim that no one does more comprehensive labor and backs it up. We believe this is so because we have done away with the traditional “tune-up” package.” Each bicycle has different needs and an arbitrary list of things that a bicycle may need simply does not allow us to address each bicycle’s needs individually. We are committed to finding what each bicycle needs and fixing those issues. We will not simply perform the work that we feel is convenient but the work that is necessary.
Additionally, the comprehensiveness of our service reports are untouchable in the industry. In many cases, the only information you might get when you receive your bike is a receipt. Sometimes you may receive a tune-up checklist. We feel that these do not inform you about what was actually done to your bike. Our service reports regularly run 2-4 pages per hour of work performed. We will tell you exactly what work was done and how it was done. We will tell you what greases and lubes were used and why. We will always record the specific torques of the applicable bolts and nuts. We will measure and record wheel tension and make the necessary adjustments and comments. We firmly believe that our clients are entitled to this information and we do them a disservice by not giving it to them.
We have chosen to raise our standards and in doing so we are convinced that we offer the most comprehensive labor around, and we’re backing it up.
So, we’re all different, right? Doesn’t take much to realize that. Accommodating our individual differences does take some extra work,though. At Jinji Cycles, we’re not convinced that any product, or combination thereof, is suitable for any rider. This is why we put such effort into our custom program. Whether it’s a rider’s size, mileage, riding style, or maintenance habits, we will consider every possible factor to ensure that our clients are on the best combination of equipment for their use. Just because something is expensive or popular, does not make it the right product for everyone. After all, it is our equipment that keeps us going, and a careful, calculated consideration of that equipment will keep us going faster and longer with fewer repairs. Our custom program falls under two categories.
1. Parts replacement and upgrade.
Most of us are riding stock bikes. Stock bikes are built to fit a certain price range and a certain range of riding style and rider type. As a result, not every stock bike is specially suited to the particular rider. When it comes time to replace or upgrade parts on a stock bike, we take the time with our clients to consider the multitude of parts available, and find the parts that best fit them and their bike. We’re bike geeks, so we are able to help our clients think outside the box a little bit and consider some different options.
2. Custom new bikes.
Sooner or later you’re going to want a new bike, and when that time comes, Jinji Cycles is here to help you get a bike specifically planned and built for all of your unique differences and preferences. Not only does a custom bike let you build a bike just for you, but it gives you the freedom to put your money where you want. Have some specific parts in mind? No problem. Better wheels instead of better shifters? You got it. With a careful consideration of your budget, we can assemble a parts package that best optimizes your dollar. Our custom bike program takes a little longer, but you can be assured the absolute best use of your money and the best bike for you.
We don’t know everything. In fact, nobody does. One important thing for us at Jinji Cycles though, is that we continue to learn. We refuse to consider our current knowledge base as good enough. We will not allow ourselves to think that we do not need to continue learning. Bicycle technology has changed and grown so much in the last 15 years that it requires a great deal of work to remain current. Whether it’s new fork damping, 11speed or electronic drivetrains, we are committed to continual learning so that we can ensure to our clients a high level of expertise. From reading bicycle related news to reading product manuals to attending seminars, we promise to our clients that we at Jinji Cycles will always be learning.
It seems almost cliche to include honesty in a values list, but our commitment to honesty is crucial to how we do business. Under “Education” we already admitted that we do not know everything. Honesty dictates to us that we admit that when applicable. We are not going to try to make it look like we know if we do not. We are not going make answers up to questions we don’t know the answers to. Additionally, our service reports help to keep us honest. We commit to our clients that the work done was the work written in the report and vice versa. We will not engage in a smoke and mirrors game of making it look like you are getting more than you actually are. We choose to be open and up front about everything we do and we believe that gives our clients a greater peace of mind when working with Jinji Cycles.
At Jinji Cycles we choose to be held accountable for the work we do. We believe that our customers should know exactly what work has been performed on their bike. You deserve to know where your money is going. For this reason we have committed to giving each customer a detailed report of their bicycle’s service. Each service report is custom written for each bike. We do not simply check off items on a list services. When your bike is in service, the technician will make handwritten notes which will then be transferred to a typed, saved, and printed copy. Photos, when necessary, will be included in various service reports to validate existing conditions when addressed by the technician. We are committed to a level of accountability unavailable anywhere else.
